ABOUT US
Welcome to the Young Designers Sewing Program, an inspiring Athens-based non-profit that has been nurturing the potential of young people since 2009 and became officially incorporated in 2012. We are dedicated to empowering girls in our community, especially those facing economic challenges.
We owe our journey to the incredible support of our community. Your generosity has been our backbone, and we are profoundly grateful for your continued support. Join us in making a difference!

OUR FOCUS
We passionately teach students from 4th to 12th grade the art of sewing, while also equipping them with essential life skills. Our program covers social skills, etiquette, workplace readiness, and basic business principles to prepare them for a successful and fulfilling future.
OUR GOAL
Our mission goes beyond skill-building; we aim to inspire our members to realize their potential and envision the bright futures they can achieve.
GIVING BACK

ETIQUETTE CLASS
Today, the girls had their first etiquette class. We have this class to teach them valuable life skills and important table manners. Put yourself in their shoes for a minute. Do you know which side your drink goes on? Or even how to tell which plate is yours when you’re out at a luncheon?

PILLOWCASES, STRING BAGS & BOOK COVERS
The girls not only designed their own pillowcases and book covers but made them as well! They are exceptionally talented and their pillowcases, string bags and book covers are beautifully done.

THE WAY OF THE PRESSER FOOT
The girls know that you cannot stagger when you are sewing with a presser foot. It will mess up many essential things that are on their machine. They sew with not only patience but delicacy as well. Being gentle is the first step to learn how to use a presser foot. The more you press down, the faster your machine will go.
